When the job book is still the phone

· 1 min read

Been talking to shops around here this month. Cabinets, glass, pest routes, millwork. Different trades. Same pattern.

The work is real. Jobs leave the shop. Trucks go out. The book, though — a lot of the time that’s still the phone. Quote comes in. Someone texts a measurement. Install date lives in a calendar nobody else can see. By Friday you’re reconstructing the week from memory.

If a notebook already runs it, leave it. I’m not here to sell you software for the sake of software.

If it doesn’t — if a walk-in and a dealer order and a callback all land while you’re on a job — then the useful thing is small. An owned list. Who called. What kind of job. Scheduled or not. Done or not. You keep the data. No per-seat SaaS built for a different trade.

That’s the conversation we’ve been having. Not a rebrand. Not another platform. A job book that belongs to the people running the work.

If that’s the mess on your desk, tell us what you’re running today.
