Been looking at shops again this week. Body work, diesel, pest routes, A/C. Different trades. Same mess under the hood.
Someone still takes the call. Someone still writes the ticket. Half the time that ticket lands in a fax tray, a personal Gmail, or a pad by the phone. By Thursday you’re hunting what is open, what is promised, and who already said they’d be there.
I’m not talking about a prettier website. A leftover page with fax on it is just the tip. The useful thing is a short open list the shop owns — repair orders, routes, callbacks — that lands in one place and stays there when the truck is out.
If a notebook already runs it, leave it. If the week only reconstructs from memory and three inboxes, we should talk.
If that is the mess on your desk, tell us what you are running today.
